WrestleMania Returning to Vegas After 32 Years

The largest event in professional wrestling will take place in Las Vegas in 2025, according to a Saturday announcement from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Allegiant Stadium will be under siege for two nights, April 19 and 20, during WrestleMania XLI.

Since its 1993 headline appearance at Caesars Palace, the yearly event will be held in Sin City for the first time.

“Las Vegas is the sports and entertainment capital of the world,” Nick Khan, WWE president, is quoted as saying in Saturday’s press release. “Allegiant Stadium has proven to be even greater than the A+ venue Las Vegas guaranteed it would be.”

U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis has been the preferred venue for WrestleMania XLI for a number of months since Minnesota Sports and Events put in its bid to host the event. Scott Roeben, a blogger at Vital Vegas, was the first to formally predict Las Vegas on February 9.

Delays in the announcement have been questioned by ardent supporters. This year's WrestleMania, which is typically where the announcements for the following year's take place, was almost a month ago.

The most plausible explanation is a last-minute change.

So, why thirty-two years?

The maximum capacity at a Las Vegas venue has not changed, despite the fact that WWE has been expanding significantly since 1993, when it was still primarily a made-for-TV event.

Only stadiums with a capacity of above 65,000 have hosted what is also known as "The Showcase of Immortals" since 2007—not including the COVID-19 pandemic-affected years of 2020 and 2021.

However, it wasn't until the Raiders constructed one in 2020 that Las Vegas had a facility that size. After a run of pandemic-related closed-door performances, WWE's first high-end live event, SummerSlam 2021, was also held at Allegiant Stadium.

Since combining with sister sports entertainment behemoth UFC under the TKO Group Holdings banner last September, WWE has also been drawn to Las Vegas.

Relocating its developmental NXT Battleground event from May 26 in Savanna, Georgia to the UFC Apex, the events and production hub that stages "UFC Fight Night" events, on June 9 was WWE's first formal crossover move.

According to the press release, WrestleMania XLI ticket details will be made available "in the coming months," but fans are encouraged to sign up "for pre-sale opportunities."
